More Morrell!

I can hardly believe November is almost gone.  Exams and reports are practically done, so I finally have time to post again.  I've been working on a couple of different projects, but here's the latest Morrell madness:

Morrell Block 3 - (simple BP)

Morrell Block 4

Morell Block 5

Morell Block 6 (slight mismeasurement, hence the border)

The Morrell - second block

The last week has flown by so quickly.  Block two is now complete.  It took much longer than I thought it would.  My machine is STILL in being serviced - hopefully not too much longer before I get it back - so the block for the coming week will most likely be yet another BP.

The Morrell - first block

My first post on my first blog.

I was looking for a new challenge and naturally turned to the Internet for inspiration and there it was.  The Morrell.

A little more searching found a reproduction of the original 1843 album quilt.  Within five minutes I’d ordered a copy of the pattern from Threadbear.
I didn’t realise just how much Broderie Perse made up this quilt.  Applique has never been my scene, so I’ll confess that I’m feeling a little trepidatious at the commencement of this journey.  Not least, because I’ve found it quite difficult to find a fabric with large enough print to use in the b.p blocks.
With ‘old faithful’ being serviced this week, I took the opportunity to begin making the quilt.  Starting with said b.p blocks, of course.

Here’s the first one complete:
